A few weeks ago Walter and I and a team from SOS Church visited Malmö, southern Sweden. I lived in Malmö for 2 years (1999-2000) and fell in love with this south-Swedish port to Europe and the continental atmosphere. I have heard a whisper in my spirit for a long time: when SOS plants another church in Sweden, it will be in Malmö. You know, once you've been smitten by the "pioneer virus", even called "the Spirit of Caleb", (Num 14:24) it stays in your system like aggressive Malaria that shows its face once in awhile...
Once a missionary - always a missionary. Once a pioneer - always a pioneer. There's most likely a little church planter in most of my blog readers. Let me express it like this: you have never really lived a real Christian life until you've been part of planting at least one church. Certain things just must be done in order to live - you know what I mean?! Of course I don't mean that everyone should become a pastors in a new church plant, but to once, at least be part of a new church in one way or the other. There are many ways to be part of the Apostolic Revolution and the recapturing on the once Christian Europe. We have to plant more churches!
There are many common "musts". Most people want to get married. To become parents is another one most people want to experience. To get your drivers licence, or at least test drive a Porsche or Lamborghini... :) You know what I mean?!
To establish a church, in other words, build an embassy for the Kingdom of God in one of the devil's territories is a "must" for a Christian. The Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) is just the beginning of the life of the believer.
The stands and honor of the Apostle Paul, to preach to those who had never heard the Gospel and found new Apostolic ministries, are the heartbeats of SOS. We live, breathe and will one time also die for this! We have to press on! We have to multiply! This is our life style and DNA in SOS.
We walked the streets of the third city of Sweden until we had blisters on our feet. We (seven people from SOS in Stockholm) paused only to have a drink of airan or Sultan Cola. We studied statistics and the city's history on our smartphones, read the Bible and prayed for the people of Malmö. We had burek for lunch and falafel or shawarma for dinner, while asking about prices for available rental apartments and houses with people on the street.
We walked from the Old City to Möllevångstorget. We marched along Amiralsgatan to Zlatan's Court in Rosengård. From Triangeln to Ribban and then back to Lilla Torg and Stortorget. The asphalt of Bergsgatan and Föreningsgatan is calling out for new missionaries. There are 280,000 people in the city, whereof most need to see and understand who Jesus is. The city with more than 40% first and second generation immigrants, need warm loving disciples to Jesus. The city is bleeding and hurting badly from unemployment, gang-crimes and alienation.
Malmö is crying out! The refugees from Iran and Bosnia need an Apostolic home and store house.
Who feels called? What next couple are we to place our hands on and send out for holy ministry? Who wants be the priest of a city? Who wants to lay down their life for the 170 people groups of Malmö? Who wants to raise up a church according to the Book of Acts in the Öresund Region? Let me know! Please! I am already praying for you!
See ya!
