Holy Decisions and Good Habits!
1) In our family we have decided that Sunday is a holy day... Sunday is the highlight of the week and a feast! Sunday is the day we praise, thank and honor our God and listen to His Word and His voice! It's the day when we go to church together and meet our large family and spend time with our best friends! Everyone has to come! There is no gathering that can replace Sunday service, not the youth meeting, outreach with the Bible School, house church gathering or anything else "spiritual"... People living with you, teenagers, the dog and the cat, everyone has to come ;)! That's just the way it is!
Sunday is a holy, lovely and wonderful day! Our motto in our family is; we love Sundays! :)
2) Another principle that we practice is tithing; i.e 10% of all income goes to the church. Tithe on your allowance, the $75 you get from grandpa every month etc... You don't "tithe" in all directions, to friends and stuff that you feel passionate about for the moment, but you give your tithes to the CHURCH, "the store house" (Mal 3:10). Then blessings will pour over you for real! I tithe, give 10% of what I earn to the church, the local church where I have my home, my base, where I eat, drink and are encouraged.
3) One missions trip with the family each year! I want my entire family to do the Great Commission together and to see signs and wonders among the unreached people groups...
4) We always eat one meal together every day. As far as it's possible we try to gather everyone at least once around the dinner table... We talk, laugh, listen and share life. Such a precious time! I would never want to be without it... It's a perfect time to open a Bible (that should always be close by) together, read a passage and pray!
Make holy decisions and establish good habits in your family, it will lead to generational blessings in many generations after you... The Amritzer family is far from perfect, but we try to build something beautiful that the kids will inherit when they move out of the nest. You should try this too! God will be with you!
See ya!
