Mwanza Update #4

Mwanza; a Place of Miracles!

Today I’m letting my international secretary report from our great festival here in Mwanza! Read, rejoice and enjoy what God has done this week

What an incredible week we have had in Mwanza, Tanzania! Every afternoon Furisha Ground has been filled with people eager to hear the delivering gospel message, and hungry for God to touch their bodies to healing. The crowd has grown every day and the final night gathered 70,000 people to celebrate Jesus!

So many precious Tanzanians have given their lives to Jesus; around 12,000 have prayed a salvation prayer and filled out a decision card and will now be followed up by the local churches that we have cooperated with during this event.

Jesus has opened deaf ears, the mute started to speak, the crippled have started to run, pain of all sorts have disappeared, but most of all, almost 400 people tormented by evil spirits have been miraculously delivered. One of them is Helen; she had been selling her body on the streets of Mwanza. She was beautifully delivered and cried like a baby when Jesus made all things new and gave her a future and her dignity back.

There was an obvious presence of the Holy Spirit the final night of the festival, the crowd was rejoicing and everybody knew; Jesus is here! When the invitation was given to be baptized in the Holy Spirit thousands ran to the front. The Holy Spirit fell with power and people started speaking in tongues without any laying on of hands.

God is transforming Mwanza, and it will no longer be known for witchcraft and superstition, but for being a place where Jesus performs miracles and peoples lives are forever changed!

Mwanza Update #3

Festival update 3 - June 20th. from Mission SOS on Vimeo.

First Half Done

Here's a first summary after the third festival night in Mwanza, Tanzania. The crowd has grown from a shy 13,000 the first night to 20,000 and tonight around 25,000. We have prayed with around 5,000 precious people to salvation so far both in the outreaches and at the festival!

This man was mute when he came to the festival, Jesus healed him and here he is speaking in front of a roaring crowd!

Tonight's crowd was wild and around 2,000 people responded to my very radical salvation invitation. We are challenging witch power and superstition, and darkness has to flee in the name of Jesus and the light of God's Kingdom. Our "demon clinic" is filled every night with some 50 damaged victims from the witch doctors activity in this city.

Hips, backs and legs are being healed, the lame walk and the crippled are throwing their crutches! The deaf hear and the mute speak! Blind eyes are opened! Yes... that's right - Jesus has come to town! :)

The weekend starts tomorrow and we believe in larger crowds and more people saved!

Pray for us!

See ya!

Albinos, Witch Doctors and Fear

We are right now on our way to the city of Mwanza in North Eastern Tanzania situated right on Lake Victoria… Our Signs & Wonders Festival start next Wednesday and will run for 5 days in cooperation with more than 500 churches in the region. Our stage, platform, light, sound, large screens and a huge pool for baptism are on trucks this moment in Tanzania on its way from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza. More than 120 team-members from Sweden, Norway, USA and DAR are arriving to Mwanza as I am writing…

People call Mwanza "the capitol city of the witch doctors" in East Africa and has more than 3000 practicing magicians. These men and women come up with all kinds of alternative "medications" and "healing" and spells and curses. Several international medias like the BBC have noted Mwanza because of its mad pursuit of albinos. More than 50 albinos have been murdered and butchered the last 4 years in the region. Many witch doctors spread the rumor that they can give long life, riches and happiness to people if they receive hair, skin and organs from an Albino. An Albinos organs is sold for huge tempting amounts. An arm will give you $240 and even more for genital parts…

You don't have to be a Christian to understand that this is as demonic as it gets. This particularly aimed racism and superstition has to be fought. The 170,000 Albinos in Tanzania must be protected and the butchering murderers sentenced and locked up.

We are going there to proclaim war on the witch doctors reign of terror in the name of Jesus! The light of the gospel will drive away the darkness. The blood of Jesus cleanses, protects and delivers! I am praying humble prayers that both the victims of, and the witch doctors will experience life changing meetings with the risen Jesus!

11 pieces of advice for missionaries

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15

1) Turn every day into an adventure!

The Holy Spirit is your best friend... Every morning, as you read your Bible, ask Him: what do you want to show me, teach me and speak to me about today?

2) Expect surprises!

He wants you to say: Wow, what is this? You will find "Manna" on the ground, birds flying so low you can catch them and water will flow from the Rock! Bonus, favor, signs and surprises!

3) The word problem can not be found in a missionary's dictionary!

A missionary does not have any problems, only challenges. You will be stretched and you will evolve and grow through the challenges... Meet every challenge filled with joy and enthusiasm! ;)

4) Never frown!

A lot of things will be new and different. The food does not taste like home, scents, climate and the aspect of time are all different. But you will always smile and stay humble and thankful. Remember, that as you brace yourself at times, you will win the hearts of the people!

5) Live every second and enjoy the moment!

Dance, sing and let go! It will not harm you to be sweating, wet or hungry at times ;)

6) See the people that you meet!

There is no one unimportant enough that you not have time to see them in the eye. The children, beggars, waiters, taxi drivers - they all need your friendly eye. You can not be so stressed or focused that you need to be rude to the people that you meet. Let your eyes convey Jesus; let your handshakes and hugs be felt! Everyone should know and remember that they met a missionary with a heart as big as an elephant when they meet you...

7) You can always help one!

You can not help everyone but you can help one and mean the world for him or her. Be careful not to hand out your contact info left and right since in fact you are then creating expectations that you seldom can live up to in the first place... Do not make promises that you will not be able to keep... Help someone or a couple of people and yet keep in mind that money and things rarely help in the long run. But your t-shirt, hat or even watch can at times be a point of contact that opens up a heart, creates warmth and opens a door for the gospel. Your primary task is to convey salvations and Jesus! A baptism in the Spirit will make a big difference! :)

8) Enjoy the culture!

Soon enough you will be back home. Everything will be back to normal very soon. Do not whine over or look down upon the culture that you are about to serve. Instead learn to curiously ask about and enjoy the things that are different. We love to help people get free from stuff that is not Biblical or even down right demonic. The missionary is present in a place to convey the culture of the Kingdom of God!

9) Do not believe in ghosts!

Do not allow any ghosts in your head to play games with you during your trip. Thoughts like:
- no one wants to be with me
- I am not really part of the team
- he/she thinks I am no good
- I should not have come
- I don't fit

10) It is not about you!

You will survive longer than you think with out that counseling session ;). You went on a mission trip to serve and not be ministered to yourself. Your leaders are not your psychologists, therapists or simply there to solve your personal issues when you get tired... :)

11) Fill in where needed!

Never say: the responsible person has not done his/her job. Instead: yes! This is my opportunity to serve, fix and make it better! :) Fill in! Cover someone else! Carry the burden of someone else!

See you on the mission trip!
See you on the mission field!

Looking Over the Troops for the Summer!

This Saturday there will be a straight lineup at SOS. We will look over the troops for this summer's different expeditions. We are gathering our people before the summer's different events. When others are on vacation, we will conquer new land. Most people swim and work on their tan, we will pray for the sick! Most people sleep and read during the summer months, we will cast out evil spirits! We will win and baptize! Stockholm and the unreached people groups belong to us!

We are going on two missions trips to Tanzania in June and July. Will do festivals among the witch doctors in the city of Mwanza and among the Muslims in the city of Tanga!

We are taking more than 30 youths on an outreach trip to Halden, Norway!

We are sending SOS Street Mission to the Hultsfreds Festival, one of the largest rock festivals in Sweden!

What a summer! You're coming too, right?!

This Saturday we have an open seminar all day at Warfvinges Väg 26 from 9 am to 2 pm. I will teach on: "Position Yourself for the Miraculous!" Very practical teaching that can be used here in Sweden, Tanzania and Norway :).

Everyone is welcome! See ya!

Are You Born Somewhere Between Year 2000 and 1994?!

I'm sitting at a hotel restaurant in Charleston WV writing... Preached at my good friend, Pastor Ron Crum's church Kings River in St Albans last night. I threw in a hand grenade called "No Matter What Faith" and the service exploded into wild prayer that never wanted to stop! I am preaching at one of Ron's daughter churches in Kanawha City tonight and then two services at the mother church tomorrow... I know that the Spirit of Jesus will save, heal and baptize in fire!

This week I had the privilege of speaking at my best friend, Jeff Leake's "Ignite" in Pittsburgh. His apostolic network  "Reach Northeast" has grown from around 20 leaders when we met the first time to more than 400 leaders that were gathered Wednesday and Thursday... Speakers were Greg Surratt, leader of ARC, Pastor Brad Leach, CityLife Church Philly, Pastor Brian Bolt, City Reach Network and of course our own big brother and hero Jeff! We love you! We are cheering you on! You have already started 21 churches out of your church APC! Now you are running with the vision of planting 100 churches in 10 years! Thank you bro for your faithfulness and spirit of self sacrifice! Thank you Holy Spirit for your work through Jeff and Melodie Leake! I want to be like you when I grow up...

So many people wanted to dedicate themselves to be church planters and missionaries!

I am starting a 10-day fast today. Why are you telling us this Hannes?! Shouldn't this be a secret between you and God? Yeah... it usually is... but... I want more people to join me! Of course I am praying for our festivals in Tanzania in June and July. Praying for dead to be raised to life and that it will continue to rain "angel bread" from God's heaven; apostolic miracles and finances! But, I am sensing something new in my spirit as well! I have started to pray the next generation! Praying everyone born between year 2001 and 1994... My kids, Alicia and Adam's generation; ie everyone between 12 and 20 years old. I am praying that we get to be a part of training, sending and back them up. I want to live my life to inspire and challenge them to believe. You will win the world! You will complete Jesus' own Great Commission to the unreached people groups! I am praying that everyone born in the 60's, 70's and 80's will become spiritual moms/dads and big siblings to the next wave. Lord! Help us in SOS to live for, support and believe in the next generation!

Are you born in the 90's? I am longing to see you at one of our Bible Schools! I want to be on the same team and go on the same missions-adventure as you! I want to teach you faith, to pray and hear the voice of the Holy Spirit! I want to teach you to heal the sick and cast out evil spirits! I want to live the book of Acts with you! Maria, I and the entire SOS-gang are longing for you!

Everything is expanding now. SOS Is taking off! We have never been stronger. Just like my German Shepherd at home in Stockholm suddenly went from being "little Tyson" to becoming a wild animal bigger and with the fattest neck ever, SOS grew up. All of sudden Tyson scares both big and small kids between 5-85 years old. How did that happen? Tyson who used to be our little puppy? What happened?! That is how the next generation is growing up. All of a sudden the next wave is here! We are now sending a large team to Beirut, Lebanon to plant yet another church. Soon over 200 missionaries from Sweden, Norway and America are going to Africa for missions festivals! Wild SOS people! We cannot be stopped! What God has given birth to wins!

Welcome to SOS Mission Bible School and SOS Leadership Academy this fall!

See ya!
